The Challenge
High secure hospitals care for patients who need the most controlled environment in the health system. Digital access to communication, education and entertainment has clear therapeutic value, but every service has to be clinically appropriate, individually controlled and secure enough for the setting.
Standard consumer technology cannot meet that bar. Few suppliers operate at this level of security.
What We Did
Made Purple provides its fully managed Secure Patient Digital Platform to two of the UK's high secure hospitals. In 2026 we won the contract to supply the NHS high secure digital patient technology solution for Nottinghamshire Healthcare, whose Rampton Hospital is one of the high secure hospitals in England.
At The State Hospital at Carstairs, Scotland's high secure hospital, a successful pilot led to full delivery of the platform in 2026, including online shopping for patients. The shopping service is the most secure of its kind in any secure setting, giving high secure patients a real world shopping experience within the hospital's controls.
The platform is built on MPoS, our secure operating system for patient devices.
