Overview

The moment resident devices can reach the internet, the network becomes one of the establishment's biggest security questions. Device controls decide what a tablet can do but a secure environment also needs certainty about where its traffic goes, with anything unauthorised blocked before it ever leaves the network.

Purple Proxy is a secure proxy server designed specifically for secure establishments such as prisons and secure hospitals. It sits between resident devices and the internet as a secure gateway, separating users from the services they access and blocking any traffic that has not been authorised on your network. Domain allow-listing means devices reach only pre-approved domains and services, content blocking keeps unauthorised and harmful material out and traffic shaping manages bandwidth so essential services take priority. All outgoing and incoming traffic is logged, with detailed audit trails for compliance reporting.

Purple Proxy supplements Made Purple's two device controlling products, protecting tablets and computers managed by Purple MDM or running MPoS. It is available through G Cloud as an add-on service to either. Management is simple: the proxy configures itself automatically from your existing domain allow-lists and is managed from the Purple MDM portal, with changes applied automatically as lists are updated. Full API documentation gives third-party systems the same level of control and hybrid deployment options let heavy traffic such as video bypass the proxy at the device level, keeping network performance optimal without compromising security.
